Second Tuesday Luncheons
Lunch is at 11:30; speaker at 12:15-1:00. A free blood pressure clinic and nurse consultation begins at 11:15. New guests especially welcome! Location: Hamline Methodist Church, 1514 Englewood Ave, St. Paul. Free parking. $4.00 suggested free-will donation for the meal. RSVP: Call (651) 209-6542.
April 9: "Yoga: Fostering a Healthy Mind/Body Relationship" Learn how yoga can help you become a calmer, more grounded person — without doing "pretzel poses" or standing on your head.
May 14: "Senior Housing Options; Oh So Many Choices!" Bonnie Clark will present information on the spectrum from remaining in your home (including reverse mortgages) to downsizing to moving into a residence for those 55+.
June 11: "Meals on Wheels Update" This valuable service has experienced several changes in recent months. Two area managers will address these changes.
July 9: "Sleep Issues As We Age" Staff from "The Sleep Institute of United Hospital" will address the importance of solid zzzz's."
Joint-Friendly Exercise Classes
A new session of Joint-Friendly exercise classes will begin February 19th and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30-2:30 p.m. for eight weeks. Sessions are offered at no cost and will be held at Hamline Methodist Church, 1514 Englewood Ave, St. Paul. Call (651) 209-6542 to register, or for more information. Free Exercise Classes
Chair Yoga will begin Tuesday, April 16th, and will be held every Tuesday through May 21th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Sessions are offered at no cost and will be held at Hamline Methodist Church, 1514 Englewood Ave, St. Paul. HEART Work Camp
Volunteers will be available June 10th - 13th for large projects at seniors' homes. Senior homeowners who need help with organizing, painting, window washing, gutter cleaning, landscaping, and cement work please contact Monica at Hamline Midway Elders at (651) 209-6542 or monica@hmelders.org. Volunteer Pairs, Groups, and Families Needed for Spring Raking

Caregiver Support Group
A free support group for caregivers meets the second Thursday of each month from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at Hamline Methodist Church, 1514 Englewood Ave, St. Paul. This group is designed for caregivers to find support, and to exchange information, and will be facilitated by Hamline Midway Elders staff and trained volunteers. It is open to anyone caring for older adults or persons of any age with special needs. Refreshments are provided. Call (651) 209-6542 to register, or for more information.
CoNNect Networking Group for Persons 50+
CoNNect, “Caring for our Neighbors and Neighborhood,” is a networking group for persons 50+ that meets 10:30-12:00, every 3rd Thursday of the month at Groundswell Coffee.
CoNNect’s goals are to:
- Share information about what’s happening in the Hamline Midway community.
- Provide updates about volunteer and work projects.
- Provide support to group members by offering suggestions and assistance with various issues facing seniors.
Discount Coupon Book for Local Businesses
A coupon book with discounts for participating local businesses is available from Hamline Midway Elders. Coupons may be used multiple times and are good through May 31, 2013. The cost for the coupon book is $5.00. All proceeds benefit Hamline Midway Elders. Purchasing a coupon book is a good way to support both Hamline Midway Elders and local community businesses.
